I voted for Season 1, but I feel it's not fair, because obviously the first season of any show will be amazing. It set the tone.
I loved Season 7 because it had Renee Walker and Allison Taylor, and finally there was an interesting overdue debate about Jack's methods.
Season 5 was also pure gold.
I'm in the minority on this, but I also loved most of season 8, until they had to ruin it by killing Walker and making Taylor a villain.
Season 3 was quite good, except for the unbearable subplot of the Palmers being completely stupid while dealing with Wayne's former lover.
Season 4 was meh....
Season 6 was a big mess....
LAD was a complete disaster, I couldn't even re-watch it. I doubt I'll ever will.
9 live another day
How on earth did season 6 get a single vote, it was ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love 24 but that season is definitely the bottom of the list, especially considering the rest of the incredible seasons.
Season 1 of course was the introduction. Parts were annoying when some of CTU thought Jack was the enemy, but still pretty good. My favorite scene from the whole show is Alexis Drazen killing Kevin Carroll (first scene I saw, my brother showed it to me coz he recognized him as Misha Collins who plays Castiel in Supernatural). Then there's the twist regarding who the mole is, and Dennis Hopper as the main villain.
I voted Season 2 for now. Nuclear bomb threat, and a huge chain for who's working for who. Jack gets close to Eddie Grant, who was working for Joseph Wald, who was working for Nina Myers, who was introduced to Wald by Mamud Faheen, who was working for Syed Ali, who was supplied with the nuclear bomb by Jonathan Wallace, who was working for Peter Kingsley (Tobin Bell), who came up with the plan to start the war but was working for Max (Thomas Kretschmann), the one who wanted the war started in the first place.
Season 3, got a little darker than I'm comfortable with with the whole "releasing the virus inside the hotel" thing, but was still all right, full of twists, Jack finally kills Nina, and also one of my favorite obscure actors, Patrick Fabian, is in it.
Season 4 was also interesting, with Arnold Vosloo as Big Bad Habib Marwan, and unexpected Mandy appearance at the end, though I really didn't like the part where Conlon set off the EMP and ruined the lives of everyone in that area forever. But, this season introduced one of my favorite characters, Bill Buchanan.
Season 5, was still interesting, though of course David Palmer was absent from most of it on account of being killed in the first episode. The twist of who's behind the conspiracy, and that he's working for an even higher power, though of course this is Jack's most difficult challenge yet due to his enemy being president of the United States. And the other antagonist, Vladimir Bierko, is played by Julian Sands, who I knew as Valmont from Jackie Chan Adventures.
Season 6 I know got a lot of hate but I didn't think it was that bad. More about Graem is revealed and he gets what's coming to him for killing David Palmer (though earlier and less climactically than most hoped). Abu Fayed doesn't feel as compelling as other villains but he detonated a nuclear bomb in the US. It felt like it started to decline during the Cheng arc, but it was a good checkpoint where the show could've ended without any loose ends to tie up, except wherever Mandy is after her immunity deal.
Seasons 7 and 8, I really didn't find fun at ALL. The previous six seasons usually knew how to stay interesting and keep you wanting to see the next episode. These, not so much for me, as well as the inconsistency of Alan Wilson, so he did everything Graem confessed to? As far as we knew, Graem and Phillip were the true masterminds of the conspiracy and Wilson's relationship to them is never revealed, he never mentions them once, and why would Tony be searching for the mastermind if it was already "confirmed" to be Graem and Phillip? And I hated them making Tony a villain at that. And Taylor was downright hypocritical in Season 8. I could rant more but this paragraph is long enough as it is.
I never really saw Live Another Day except the finale, and I heard it showcases everything bad about 24 rather than everything good, and ends kinda dark by Jack being sent to Russian prison presumably for life, implied to be tortured just like in the Chinese prison.

I have favorite moments and threads of various stories, but I can't really pick a favorite season, but if Jack Bauer forced me to choose, I'd have to say Season 2, and I think it boils down to Jack truly upping the game with this famous quote: “I’m going to need a hacksaw." That took the show to a new level in my opinion.
What do you think?
