24: One Shot was the first 24 comic published. It was released by IDW Publishing on July 28, 2004 and takes place on Jack Bauer's first day at CTU.

Summary

Jack Bauer has just been assigned by Division as the new Special Agent in Charge for CTU Los Angeles. His first assignment is to head up the mission to protect the recently-defected IRA member Moira O'Neal.

O'Neal, the architect of numerous terrorist activities in the UK, used to work for businessman and IRA financier Michael Donovan. While working with Donovan, she hid a copy of his entire personal database within his own library as insurance for herself, but one day, she found out something terrible and had an awakening of sorts. She suddenly became sick of all the killing she'd lived with her whole life. Walking into CTU's Division Command, O'Neal turned herself in, wanting to do the "right thing."

Fearing that some of her former associates will try to kill her before she can talk, CTU transfers O'Neal to a safe house in the Arizona desert until the CIA can debrief her. CTU uses this time to debrief O'Neal themselves, since they suspect the that CIA won't share their full report with them. Agents Dillon, Solof, Taylor and Landon are assigned by Division to assist Bauer.

Donovan, working upon information secretly feeded to him by double-agent Nina Myers (whom he believes to be located in Europe), dispatches Tim McGinnis and his crew of hitmen to eliminate O'Neal at the safe house. Four of the agents are killed, but agent Bauer is able to escape with O'Neal as the safe house is destroyed by a missile launcher. McGinnis and his crew end up destroying a gas station, as well as a CTU Phoenix helicopter, during a chase across the desert. He eventually catches up with Bauer and O'Neal, but is killed by the final bullet in Jack's gun.

Moira O'Neal later provides CTU with the location of Donovan's hidden database, bringing down his entire network and making it the biggest thing CTU has cracked since its inception. Nina Myers also uses the information from Donovan's database to sell for her own personal gain.
