Season 4 Overview

The fourth season of 24 premiered with a four-hour two-night event on January 9, 2005. This is the first season that is non-stop (no repeat or special episodes), and ran for 5 months to May 2005. Day 4 took place approximately 16 months since (Day 3). In that time, Jack Bauer had been removed from CTU by new director Erin Driscoll and hired as chief advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, James Heller. During the premiere, Heller and his daughter Audrey Raines were kidnapped. Jack saved them, but a more ominous plot unfolded. Midway throughout the fourth season, CTU learned that a Turkish man named Habib Marwan (Arnold Vosloo) was responsible for the day's attacks. Jack did everything in his power to stop Marwan and witnessed events designed to bring the country to its knees.... Major subplots are woven into this non-stop unpredictable, explosive plot-based season.

Major plots:

  • Jack has a relationship with Audrey Raines (who is the daughter of Heller) but then a romantic triangle occurs when Audrey's ex-husband, Paul Raines, shows up and helps Jack to stop the terrorists.
  • A eleborate plan is revealed all thought by Marwan to destroy the United States: the train derailment bombing, the kidnapping of Heller, an internet virus, the nuclear power plants' meltdowns, a stealth fighter to cripple Air Force One, and a nuclear warhead aiming at L.A.

When the time to capture Marwan came in the season finale (Day 4 6:00am-7:00am), Marwan committed suicide with Jack as a witness. David Palmer finally knows who tried to kill him four and a half years ago at the end of Day 2 and Jack's life changes forever when he is helped by Tony Almeida, Michelle Dessler, David Palmer, and Chloe O'Brian to evade a trap set up by the Sercet Service.
