Before Day 9, Morgan's superior Steve Navarro colluded with hacker Adrian Cross to sell state secrets to the Chinese government, and planted evidence implicating Morgan in the crime. ("Day 9: 5:00pm-6:00pm") Morgan was indicted, despite protesting his innocence, and was placed in protective custody while awaiting trial. Prosecutors intended to try Morgan for treason, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. While in custody in Langley, Virginia, Morgan committed suicide by hanging himself.
