Adam Vernier (born August 27, 1972; age 51) played Gus during Season 2 of 24.
Biography and career[]
Adam Vernier was born in Manassas, Virginia. From an early age, he was interested in acting, reportedly being a runner-up for the role of Danny in Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining. At 13, Vernier appeared in his first play On Golden Pond in Pensacola, Florida.
Vernier graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Louis, Missouri, and then attended Southwest Missouri State University where he received a degree in Theater and Political Science. He worked at Walt Disney World before moving to Los Angeles in February 1999 to pursue his acting career.
Through his career, Vernier has appeared in TV shows like The X-Files, NYPD Blue (with Ricky Schroder), Boomtown (with Mykelti Williamson, Lana Parrilla, and Gregg Henry), Army Wives, and The Glades (with Carlos Gomez). In 2013, he appeared in an episode of Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa's new show Homeland. The episode Vernier appeared in was written by Chip Johannessen, and featured Nazanin Boniadi.
Aside of TV shows, Vernier has also appeared in films like Whatever It Takes (with Manu Intiraymi), Route 666 (with Lou Diamond Phillips, Mercedes Colon, and Chester E. Tripp III), and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (with Arnold Vosloo). He also had a role in the 2003 television movie L.A. Confidential, which starred Kiefer Sutherland.
Role on 24[]
Vernier played the role of Gus during Season 2 of 24. Gus was a federal agent present at Norton Airfield during the Second Wave nuclear threat. Vernier appeared in one episode and was credited as a co-star.
Originally, Vernier had auditioned for the role of a "bomb expert" (probably one of the two N.E.S.T. technicians also present at Norton Airfield). According to Vernier, director Jon Cassar was very pleased with his audition, but said "you just don't look like an egg head". "They threw me a bone with the part of Gus", Vernier added.
