Akshay Ajit Singh (born November 15, 1989; age 34) is an Indian actor who played Veer Singh Rathod in the second season of the Indian version of 24. He replaced Adhish Khanna, who played Veer during the first season.

Biography and career[]

Akshay Ajit Singh was born in a village in Nabarangpur, Odisha. His father was a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force and his mother was a writer. Because of his father's job, Singh moved constantly across the country. Singh has a sister that works as a commercial pilot. However, he showed more interest in performing from an early age.

In 2010, Singh appeared in the short film The Preacher. After that, he moved to Bombay and performed at Prithvi Theatre, NCPA, and Kalaghoda in different plays.

Role on 24[]

Singh said in an interview that he was introduced to 24 as a teenager by a friend. He added that at the time he kept thinking how it would be if the series was made in India.

Some time before the second season started, Singh was called to audition for the role of Veer Singh Rathod, which was played by Adhish Khanna in the first season. "I read the script and I was sure that I'm Veer", he said. His audition was a single take and as soon as he finished it, he started working out to get in shape for the role. Singh said that he started working on Veer's backstory even before being confirmed for the role. About a month later, he received the confirmation.[1]

"It was an amazing experience performing with all these legends. The level of commitment and passion they get on the floor is inspiring."

Singh appeared in 18 episodes of the second season.
