Mark Alexander "Alec" Newman (born November 27, 1974; age 49) played Captain Kevin Cordero in 24: Live Another Day.
Biography and career[]
Alec Newman was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He joined the National Youth Theatre at 17 after an injury prevented him from following a career in soccer. In theater, he played various roles, most notably Iago in Shakespeare's Othello, opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor. After finishing his training at the NYT, and then at LAMDA, Newman began to pursue a career in television and theatre.
Newman officially began his acting career in 1996 with an appearance in the show Lloyds Bank Channel 4 Film Challenge. After that, he has appeared in shows like Judge John Deed, Star Trek: Enterprise (with Connor Trinneer), Casualty, and Rogue. He also appeared in films such as Bright Young Things (with Stephen Fry), Four Corners of Suburbia (with Paul Blackthorne) and The Fifth Patient (with Nick Chinlund).
