Andy Cheng is a stunt performer and actor who played one of Cheng Zhi's men during Season 6 of 24.

Biography and career[edit | edit source]

Cheng was born in Hong Kong, China. At age 14, he began to practice Tae Kwon Do. He won three gold medals at the Hong Kong Invitationals from 1988 to 1990, followed by a bronze medal at the 1991 Asian Games. He would retire from competition to start his career in the film industry. He is also trained in Wushu, Judo and Karate.

In 1990, Cheng was discovered by legendary filmmaker Liu Chia-Liang and had a small role as a Tae Kwon Do instructor in New Kids in Town. From there, Andy spent the next five years working at TVB, owned and operated by the Shaw Brothers.

Cheng would then join the Jackie Chan Stunt Team and serve as a stuntman and occasional double for Chan himself when needed in various films Chan starred in. This would lead Cheng to appear in prominent henchman roles in films like Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 while doubling for Chan in films like Who Am I? and Mr. Nice Guy. While on the set of Rush Hour 2, Cheng was trapped in the boat stunt that went awry and was saved by Chan.

He did stunts in films Impostor, We We're Soldiers, Daredevil, Collateral, Mission: Impossible III, Looper and Olympus Has Fallen (with Simon Rhee, Arnold Chon, Philip Tan, Darryl Chan and such). He also did stunts on TV shows, including NCIS: Los Angeles (with Eric Christian Olsen and François Chau), Criminal Minds and True Blood.

Aside from being a stunt performer and actor, Cheng also worked as a director, stunt coordinator and fight coordinator. He directed the 2006 film End Game, a political thriller starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and was the stunt coordinator for The Scorpion King, The Rundown and Twilight.

Role on 24[edit | edit source]

Cheng played one of Cheng Zhi's men during Season 6. In "Day 6: 12:00am-1:00am", he and Jeff Imada's character brought Audrey Raines out of the limousine on Cheng's order. When CTU arrived, that henchman fired at Jack Bauer, which subdued him from detonating the C4 on the component. While hiding, Jack shot and killed him. Cheng was uncredited for his role.
