Artel Kayaru (born September 11, 1981; age 42) played a Sangalan villager during Season 7 of 24.

Biography and career

Artel Kayaru was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, he completed a double major in theater and philosophy from Columbia College. After that, he has performed in improvisational tropues, and also won an NAACP ACT-SO award for Poetry. In June 2010, Kayaru graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television as the first Black valedictorian.

Kayaru's first acting role was an uncredited appearance on the film Light It Up (with Sara Gilbert). After that, he has appeared in films like Save the Last Dance, Dahmer, Heavens Fall (with Bill Smitrovich), and The Soloist (with Stephen Root). Kayaru has also written and directed a couple of short films.
