Atef's dossier is retrieved by CTU
Atef and another terrorist acted as sentries at the nightclub while Marwan recorded a message to the American public in a back room. Jack Bauer infiltrated the building and, while remotely operating a camera from an air vent, sent footage of Atef to CTU. There, Chloe O'Brian identified him using facial recognition software. This confirmed that Joe Prado's lead on the club was potentially legitimate.
When Secret Service Agents Greg Merfield and Frank Wells arrived to arrest Jack under orders from President Charles Logan, CTU Agent Lee Castle was forced to quickly take Jack's place. From a window, Atef spotted Castle approaching the night club, and reported it to Hikmat, giving Marwan the chance to flee after filming part of the message to the public. Atef escaped with Marwan and all of the others except Hikmat, who was shot by Bauer.
Background information and notes[]
- Although Atef is unmistakably the terrorist who spots Castle, Hikmat reports, "Marwan, the police are here. Nasir saw an officer outside." It is not clear if this is a continuity error, an alternate name for Atef, or if Hikmat mistakenly believed that he was getting the report from the second lookout.
- According to his profile, Atef is also affiliated with Second Wave.
