Bailey Chase was born in Chicago, Illinois. His father is a Senior Managing Director and his mother is a designer. Bailey has a brother called Christopher George.

Chase attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, on a full athletic scholarship. He played in Duke's football team as a defensive linebacker. Chase graduated in 1995 with a degree in Psychology. After college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. He trained for some time in London, and performed in plays like Death of a Salesman and Picnic, among others.
