William Stanley Zmitrowicz Jr. (born May 16, 1947; age 72), known professionally as Bill Smitrovich, played Gene McLennen in Season 4 of 24.

Biography and career Edit

Bill Smitrovich was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut as William Stanley Zmitrowicz. His parents were Anna and Stanley William Zmitrowicz, a tool and die maker. He is of Polish descent. Smitrovich graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1972, and later completed an MFA from Smith College in 1976. He is married to Shaw Purnell, and they have a son and a daughter.

Smitrovich has appeared in numerous television shows. He has appeared in shows like Miami Vice (with Mykelti Williamson), Nash Bridges (with Conor O'Farrell), NYPD Blue (with Currie Graham and Vincent Corazza), and Numb3rs (with Navi Rawat). However, he has featured in recurring roles in shows like Crime Story and The Event (with Zeljko Ivanek, Tony Todd, Necar Zadegan, Vic Chao, and Ian Anthony Dale). In 2014, he joined the supporting cast of the TNT cable TV series The Last Ship (with Maximiliano Hernandez, Ravil Isyanov, John Pyper-Ferguson, Bruce Nozick and Tracy Middendorf).

Smitrovich also appeared in films such as Air Force One (with Xander Berkeley, Timothy Carhart, Wendy Crewson, David Gianopoulos, Don McManus, Glenn Morshower, Tom Everett and Jurgen Prochnow), Iron Man (with Tim Griffin and Tim Guinee) and The November Man (with Will Patton).
