Brice Gardener was a United States Army serviceman, and later a member of Delta Force.

Gardener was a weapons officer in Delta, trained in numerous specialties including demolitions and hand-to-hand combat. He took part in a number of missions in the Balkans with Jack Bauer. On one operation, Gardener held off a Serbian armored car with an automatic weapon while the rest of the team escaped by helicopter, emerging from the woods ten days later with three prisoners in tow. The following is based on the account of Operation Nightfall from Findings at CTU, which was later retconned in 24: Nightfall.

Bauer chose Gardener as part of his six-man team for Operation Nightfall, a mission to assassinate Yugoslavian military leader Victor Drazen at his compound in Đakovica. The team also included second-in-command Dwayne Shelton, comm officer Haj Illijec, medic Gary Graham, combat controller Roger Voss, and intelligence specialist Fred Peltzer. After reactivation and briefing at Fort Bragg, the team flew to Aviano Air Base to deploy to Kosovo aboard an MC-130 Combat Talon,

After infiltration, Anvil Team followed the Erenik River until they reached the road to the manor compound where Drazen was supposedly hiding out. Gardener broke off with Shelton and Graham to circle around and neutralize the facility's antiaircraft guns. After this was done and Hammer One destroyed the compound, however, Gardener's team was ambushed by five of Drazen's men, who had acquired the team's radio frequency through unknown means and used it to isolate the individual team members. Shelton and Graham were killed in the firefight, but Gardener set off the last of his explosives, killing himself and the attackers in a move to buy Bauer and the others time to escape.
