Captain Butcher was an airplane pilot during Day 2.
Butcher flew a joint CTU-FBI team, escorting Nina Myers, from Los Angeles to Visalia, California on a mission to capture Second Wave operative Mamud Faheen. ("Day 2: 2:00pm-3:00pm")
On the flight back from Visalia to San Diego, where Myers was to be freed, the plane was hit by a surface-to-air missile fired by the Coral Snake unit. Captain Butcher informed Jack Bauer that he had found a river bed to make a crash landing, but minutes later reported that they would not make it before crashing. Butcher was killed in the impact, along with his co-pilot and FBI Agent Harris. ("4:00pm-5:00pm")
