California was one of eleven U.S. states holding their presidential primary this day. Maryland Senator David Palmer won all eleven states for the Democratic Party, defeating Governor Mike Hodges. Palmer was in Los Angeles campaigning when two attempts on his life were diverted by Jack Bauer and CTU.
One of the only nuclear power stations to ever melt down was the San Gabriel Island Nuclear Plant which melted down during the events of Day 4. During that day, Air Force One crashed in the state, critically injuring President John Keeler.
California played host to the monumental signing of an anti-terrorism treaty by US President Charles Logan and Russian President Yuri Suvarov. However, the signing was belittled by a hostage situation that occurred at Ontario Airport, as well as the stealing of twenty canisters of Sentox nerve gas.
