Catherine Christine Avila (born May 24, 1947; age 73) is an actress who portrayed Erica Vasquez on Season 1 of 24.

Biography and career Edit

Avila was born in Los Angeles County, California. She attended Indian Hills High School, and later studied at UCLA. Avila studied acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.

Avila previously appeared in the TV series Dangerous Minds (along with fellow 24 actors Vicellous Shannon, Lombardo Boyar and Jenny Gago), based on the movie of the same name, in which her on-screen 24 daughter Karina Arroyave played. Recently, she also starred in shows like Southland (with Hector Luis Bustamante, Michael Cudlitz, C. Thomas Howell, V.J. Foster, Regina King and Jamie McShane) and Bosch (with Sarah Clarke, Steven Culp, Mark Derwin, John Eddins, Jeff Griggs, DaJuan Johnson, Mary Page Keller, Scott Klace, Paris Tanaka and Annie Wersching)

In addition to her work as an actor, Avila has worked as an educator and was awarded the UCLA Teacher of the Year award for her work with "at risk" youth (Fred C Nelles School for Boys). Avila has also taught at UCSB, UCLA and LMU and USC. She has been cited several times by the city of Los Angeles for her volunteer work in community. Avila has been a member of the L.A., Classical Theatre Lab, and was an Associate Artist at LA Actors Theatre. She has been a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for over 35 years, and a member of SAG since 1970 and Actors Equity Association since 1968.

Avila is married to actor Mark Bramhall since 1995.
