Daniel Bernard "D.B." Sweeney (born November 14, 1961; age 62) played Mark Bledsoe during Season 8 of 24.
Biography and career[]
D.B. Sweeney was born on Long Island, New York to an educator father and a municipal government employee mother. He attended Shoreham-Wading River High School and both Tulane and New York University. Sweeney graduated from New York University with a BFA in 1984.
During his years in college, Sweeney was cast in the Broadway revival of The Caine Mutiny Court Martial. He also began appearing in TV shows like Spenser: For Hire, and films like Power and Fire with Fire (with Jean Smart).
In 1987, Francis Ford Coppola selected Sweeney to star in the Vietnam era drama Gardens of Stone. After that, he began getting more note-worthy roles. One of his most famous roles was as "Shoeless" Joe Jackson in the drama Eight Men Out. He also starred in the mini-series Lonesome Dove (with Ricky Schroder), and the film Fire in the Sky. Another role for which he is known is that of Doug Dorsey, the hockey player turned figure skater in The Cutting Edge. In 1990, he appeared in the World War II film Memphis Belle.
Sweeney has also appeared in numerous TV shows like Jericho (with Kevin Fry, Sprague Grayden, and Esai Morales), Crash (with Dennis Hopper and Ross McCall), Criminal Minds (with Jayne Atkinson), The Event (with Bill Smitrovich, Zeljko Ivanek, and Ian Anthony Dale), Castle (with Stana Katic), Hawaii Five-0 (with Daniel Dae Kim), and Major Crimes (with Raymond Cruz, Jonathan Del Arco and Annie Wersching).
Sweeney is also one of many 24 actors to appear in Touch, which starred Kiefer Sutherland. Sweeney had a recurring guest role during the second season of the show, appearing in four episodes, two of which were directed by Adam Kane and Milan Cheylov. During the show, he worked with Lukas Haas, John Lacy, John Boyd, Leland Orser, Mykelti Williamson, and John Prosky.
