David Eugene Joyner (born July 4, 1963; age 57) played Jones during Season 5 of 24. He was also the man inside the Barney costume in the children's show Barney and Friends.

Biography and career Edit

David Joyner was born in Decatur, Illinois to Roscoe and Mary Joyner. He is the fifth out of six children. Joyner graduated with honors in 1981 from MacArthur High School, and two years later received an associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute of Indianapolis, Indiana.

After working for some time as a software analyst, Joyner resigned in 1990 to pursue a career in entertainment. He also became a motivational speaker, acting coach, and later an ordained minister. From 1991, he started playing the role of Barney, the purple dinosaur. Joyner remained in the role until 2001 when he relocated to Los Angeles.

Through his career, Joyner has appeared in TV shows like The Closer (with Raymond Cruz), Southland (with Michael Cudlitz, Regina King, Lesley Fera, and C. Thomas Howell), Murder in the First (with Ian Anthony Dale, Currie Graham, Lombardo Boyar, and Raphael Sbarge), House (with Sarah Clarke and Andrew Borba), and Crossing Jordan (with Ravi Kapoor and Patrick Fabian).
