With his wife and brother now in Jadalla Bin-Khalid's clutches, Eric Carter seeks Andy Shalowitz's help on a probable suicide play to stop him. Rebecca Ingram reaches out to an old acquaintance to try and get Henry Donovan to talk. While being held prisoner by the terrorists, Isaac Carter reveals his true feelings for Nicole. Meanwhile, John Donovan attempts to find out what his wife and CTU are planning behind his back.
Synopsis[]
Previously on 24[]
- Andy Shalowitz is afraid that Director Mullins knows that he helped Eric Carter and is going to fire him. He tells his ex-boyfriend Thomas Locke that he should have helped Eric as well, saying he lacks courage.
- Eric sends CTU to pick up his wife, Nicole Carter, whom Isaac thanks for saving his life. They are soon kidnapped by Jadalla Bin-Khalid's men.
- Henry Donovan denies telling John Donovan that he sold the Rangers' identities to the terrorists. John begs his father to help CTU find Jadalla, but Henry continues to feign ignorance.
- Mariana Stiles learns about a 9-1-1 call from Mikail Dudayev, warning that his daughter is driving a truck full of explosives onto the George Washington Bridge. NYPD Officer Jenkins unsuccessfully tries to stop her; the explosives detonate and destroy a large portion of the bridge. Rebecca Ingram tells Eric that at least 100 people died in the attack.
- Rebecca blames herself, saying this wouldn't have happened if she hadn't left CTU. Eric Carter tells her they can either give up, or they can hunt down the people responsible.
- Jadalla Bin-Khalid calls Eric and demands he bring him someone who can repair the damaged flash drive containing the names of the sleepr cells. He threatens to kill his wife and brother if he doesn't comply.
06:02:14[]
CTU workers scramble across the main floor as Thomas Locke watches news coverage of the George Washington Bridge attack. Mariana Stiles updates Keith Mullins on the government's lockdown protocols, clearly distraught over the attack. He comforts her, saying they'll get through this together. Andy Shalowitz then pleads Mullins to restore his clearance, but he refuses. Andy then gets a call from a guard at the parking garage, notifying him that his car alarm went off. He says he'll be right down.
Rebecca Ingram reminds Director Mullins that Henry Donovan is responsible for the attack, and recommends moving him to a black site for "enhanced interrogation". He reluctantly signs off on her request and heads off to release Donovan from custody, but Rebecca stops him. She asks Mullins to stall her husband for as long as possible, saying he'll never go along with their plan.
Rebecca then heads to an adjacent room and calls a man, giving him the green light to kidnap Henry Donovan. The man, none other than Tony Almeida, says he and his team are ready to move, and asks her to notify him as soon as Donovan's released.
06:05:42
Down at the parking garage, Andy silences his car alarm, but it quickly goes off again. He moves closer to investigate and is surprised by Eric Carter. Eric explains that Jadalla Bin-Khalid has his wife and brother, and that he demanded he hand over somebody who can repair the flash drive in return for their safety. He asks Andy if he can instead destroy the flash drive, admitting that he's asking him to go along on a suicide mission. Although frightened, Andy decides to help after being told it's the only way to prevent further attacks. He then heads upstairs to get his laptop and development kit.

06:12:20[]
Rebecca comes to see John, who is horrified over the terrorist attack. He asks is there's any way he can help out, and she says he can by answering more questions about his father. He is reluctant, but she pleads him to go to the conference room where he can be questioned.
Director Mullins escorts Henry Donovan out of CTU, citing clean biometrics and a lack of hard evidence as the reasons for his release. Henry places a call to his brother-in-law Luis Diaz, saying his arrest was all a misunderstanding and that he's heading home.
While her husband is being stalled by the agent, Rebecca watches Henry depart from CTU. Mullins comes and asks who will be interrogating him, to which she replies that it's Tony Almeida. Shocked, Mullins reminds her that Almeida is a criminal responsible for the deaths of many people. She defends her decision, stating that he has no direct ties to CTU.
06:14:35
Andy re-enters the main floor and sees Locke at his workstation. He approaches him and apologizes for how he acted during their relationship, saying he wish he "had shown him [his] his better qualities". He then heads back to his desk and discreetly collects his things, not without arousing Locke's suspicion. He comes to ask Andy if everything's alright. Andy pauses for a moment, looking at footage of the recent attack on TV, and says he just needed to get that off his chest.
On the road, a windowless black van cuts in front of the car transporting Henry Donovan and stops abruptly. A woman on a red motorcycle then pulls next to Donovan's car and incapacitates the passengers with knockout gas. Tony Almeida and another masked mercenary proceed to get out the van and hijack the car, driving off with Henry as their prisoner.

06:20:51[]
At Jadalla's hideout, Isaac and Nicole Carter are handcuffed to a guardrail. He continually tries to break free of his restraints against Nicole's pleas, saying they won't be needed anymore once Eric gives the terrorists what they want. In a moment of regret, he tells her she made the right choice marrying Eric, and blames himself for her leaving him. Suddenly, two of Jadalla's men come to take Nicole away. Isaac attempts to fight them but is quickly subdued.
They take Nicole down to Jadalla so she, a nurse, can repair his wound. When she asks the terrorist why he's holding them hostage, he informs her that it was his father, Ibrahim Bin-Khalid, who Eric assassinated in Yemen. They sit down at a makeshift medical table as TV footage of the recent attack plays. As Nicole begins to stitch his wound, she tells him Eric would never give him what he wants. Jadalla disagrees, adding that he plans to kill him as soon as he delivers. She warns him that he had better not miss, promising that Eric won't.
06:26:12
Eric and Andy are in a red truck atop the parking garage. Andy has trouble creating a virus that will successfully erase Jadalla's flash drive. Locke sneaks towards them and draws his gun, instructing Eric to put his hands on the car. He then demands an explanation. Andy informs him of their plan to stop Jadalla, but Locke says he can't let them go through with it.
Eric quickly disarms the field agent and gets into a fist fight with him. They are stopped when Andy picks up Locke's gun and points it at him. Locke calls out his bluff, but Eric points his own gun at him and tells Andy to continue working on the virus.

Rebecca waits inside a hangar as Tony and his team arrive. His men take the captured Henry Donovan to a holding room. Tony embraces Rebecca, asking how she's holding up. She asks him if he knows what information to extract from Henry, to which he confirms. She then tells him to get started.
As Tony heads to the interrogation room, he is confronted by Sidra, who asks how long he was with Rebecca. Insulted, Tony confesses that he met her a long time ago, after his wife Michelle was killed. He adds that there's nothing going on between them anymore; he's doing this job solely for the money.
They then enter the holding room and Tony takes the bag off Henry's head. He demands Henry tell him how he's been communicating with Jadalla Bin-Khalid, but he continues to deny being in contact with the terrorists. Tony threatens to inject him with a compound that stimulates the nociceptors in his brain, causing immense pain. But he offers to inject him with a reversing agent that will stop the pain if he tells him what he wants to know. Henry asserts that this should not be happening to him as his son is a United States senator. Tony responds with a simple "okay" and leaves the room as Sidra begins some blood tests.
06:37:07
Back at CTU, John is still being "debriefed" when he receives a call from his uncle. Luis tells him that his father has yet to return to the house and that he can't reach anyone on his security team. Surprised that his father was even released, John tells him he'll call him back and hangs up. He proceeds to leave the conference room against the interrogator's pleas.
Eric handcuffs Locke to a pipe in the parking garage and places a call to Jadalla, telling him he's bringing CTU's top programmer Andy Shalowitz to repair the drive. He then demands to speak to his wife, who Jadalla puts on speaker. Nicole pleads Eric not to give in to his demands, but Jadalla quickly takes the phone away. He warns that if he brings CTU in to this, he'll kill his brother first, then his wife. He hangs up.
Locke begs Andy not to sacrifice himself; he offers to provide backup to their mission, saying he doesn't want to lose him. Eric, having received the meeting place location, tells Locke not to get CTU involved and gets in the truck. Andy takes one last look at his ex-boyfriend and tells him he'll see him "in another life". He gets in the truck and they depart from CTU.

06:43:49[]
The terrorists load Isaac onto the van with Nicole, who asks if he's alright. He quips by saying his grandma hit harder than them. They look at each other with uncertainty as the van departs from Jadalla's base.
On the main floor, John confronts Director Mullins and demands an explanation for why his father was released, and why he can reach neither him nor his wife. Mullins tries to stall, but the Senator states he is a U.S. Presidential candidate and threatens to get the Attorney General involved.
Rebecca is still observing Henry's blood test when she gets a call from Mullins, who tells her they couldn't stall her husband any longer. She has him put him on the phone with her. John asks where his father is, and she says he's with her. She tells him that Henry wouldn't respond to normal interrogation and that they had to try "something else". She offers to have CTU take him over to her so they can discuss the issue in person. John states that nothing is to happen to his father until he gets there.
On the road, Andy is visibly distressed. He then takes some pills to calm his anxiety. Eric reminisces about one of his first missions in the Rangers: clearing over a hundred apartments in Baghdad door to door. He says knocking on the first door was the hardest; the apartment belonged to an old lady, they searched it, and moved on. Andy asks what that has to do with their mission, to which he replies, "you just do the job, [...] door to door, one step at a time".
06:47:55
They arrive at the junkyard where the exchange is to take place. An SUV pulls up and three terrorists get out. Eric notes that they're scouts, sent by Jadalla to make sure they're alone. One of the terrorists places a call to Bin-Khalid, giving him an all-clear.

06:52:29[]
The van carrying Isaac and Nicole is on the way to the junkyard. Nicole notices they're slowing down, indicating they must be close. Isaac says he if he's going to die, he wants her to know that he loves her, he always had, and he always will. The van arrives at the meeting place. Eric reminds Andy that it needs to look like he's being coerced into doing this.
06:53:55
Jadalla gets out of the van and tells him to hand over Andy, but Eric says he won't do so until he releases his wife and brother. The terrorists then draw their weapons, and Eric points his gun at Andy, claiming he'll kill him if they don't lower them at once. Jadalla complies, ordering Hamid to bring the hostages.
They release Nicole, who runs toward Eric and embraces him. She is followed shortly by Isaac. Nicole asks Eric if he has a plan to get out alive, but he simply states he intends to finish this. She starts crying, begging him not do this. Isaac comforts her and puts her in the truck before having one last conversation with his brother.
Eric apologizes for everything that's happened between them. Isaac says it wasn't his fault; things happened the way they had to happen. Eric finally makes one last request: for him to take care of Nicole. He then tells his brother to go, and Isaac gets in the truck and heads off to CTU.
Split screen: Eric holds Andy at gunpoint. Jadalla waits for Eric to hand over the programmer. John Donovan is on his way to meet with Rebecca. Sidra preps Henry Donovan for interrogation. Rebecca awaits her husband's arrival. Locke attempts to break free of his restraints.
Eric surrenders himself and Andy to Jadalla. The terrorists proceed to load them onto the van while Andy "begs" Carter not to do this. Jadalla instructs one of his men to find Nicole and Isaac before they get too far, and then kill them.

Music[]
- When Isaac Carter tells Nicole that he loves her, Jack and Audrey's love theme from Seasons 4 through 6 can be heard.
- The music that plays when Jadalla releases Isaac and Nicole is the same music that plays before Ryan Chappelle's execution on Day 3: 6:00am-7:00am.
- "Reviving Jack" from the Seasons 4 and 5 soundtrack can be heard later in that scene as Isaac and Nicole depart from the junkyard.
Errors and inconsistencies[]
- Rebecca Ingram's reason for having Tony Almeida interrogate Henry Donovan, that nothing "ties him directly to CTU", is an odd one, given that Tony is a former CTU Special Agent in Charge.
