An earthquake was a natural disaster caused by shifting tectonic plates beneath the crust of the Earth. Earthquakes varied in intensity but could cause extreme destruction, especially in cities.
The Game[]
Max, a German terrorist financier, hired Peter Madsen to plant powerful explosives along California's fault lines to artificially spur an earthquake and cover the theft of nuclear weapons. Most of the explosives were deactivated, but one remained in play. This was enough to cause serious problems throughout Los Angeles. The plot was discovered by Kim Bauer, and foiled by Jack Bauer and other CTU Los Angeles agents.
