Eastern Time (ET), or GMT-5, was a time zone observed across the East Coast of the United States, including Washington, D.C. and New York City. It is 3 hours ahead of Pacific Time. More specifically, Eastern Time can refer either to Eastern Standard Time (EST) during the fall and winter, or Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) during daylight saving time in the spring and summer.
