Ed Miller was a CTU Los Angeles field agent active during Day 2 and Day 3.
Day 2[]
Miller was assigned as a guard for Nina Myers to ensure Jack Bauer brought no harm to her. During the ride, Nina attempted to alert Miller that Jack would overpower him to ultimately harm her. Miller brushed her off. Seconds later, he passed out from a drug that Jack had slipped into his water, as part of a plan to terrorize Nina. Miller, unconscious, was driven back to CTU by Doug Sloan, an agent who sympathized with Jack.
Day 3[]
Miller was a part of CTU field team sent into the Chandler Plaza Hotel after the virus was released inside. He assisted in interviewing Kathy McCartney, who knew of a possibly-infected guest that escaped the quarantine. He did a fingerprint test on Kathy's belt buckle when prompted by Michelle, and sent a print to CTU which led to the identification of the man.
Memorable quotes[]
- Nina Myers: So Ed, how are ya?
- Ed Miller: Don't talk to me, Nina. I'm here because I have to be, not because I'm your friend.
- Nina Myers: Well, you're here because they think after I help stop the bomb, Jack will try to kill me. Which, of course, he will. What if you can't stop him? I mean, no offense, but Ed, let's face it: you're no match for Jack. You're just not that ruthless. So he manages to get around you and pull the trigger. What happens then? Because of the pardon, he knows if he kills me, he'll spend the rest of his life in jail.
- Ed Miller: Jack, if you know of another way to shut her up that I'm not thinking of... ("Day 2: 1:00pm-2:00pm")
Background information and notes[]
- As was the case with many of the background CTU first-responders at the Chandler Plaza Hotel (including Peterson, Brian Pierson, and the Division agent), it was not specified if Miller survived the Cordilla virus attack there.
