Biography and career Edit

Emerson Brooks was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He has three sisters and three brothers. As a young man, Brooks joined the Army where he served as an Infantry Officer and a Paratrooper.

After his military service, Brooks completed a degree in Business and Information Technology at the University of Arizona. After graduating, he worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry in Washington, DC.

In 2004, Brooks moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. He has appeared in TV shows like The Unit (with Dennis Haysbert, Maximilian Martini, and Michael Irby), NCIS (with Pauley Perrette), Numb3rs (with Navi Rawat and Peter MacNicol), Lost (with Daniel Dae Kim), and Justified.

Aside of TV shows, Brooks has also appeared in films like American Sniper (with Leonard Roberts and Rey Gallegos), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (with Maximiliano Hernandez), Super 8, and Terminator Salvation.

In 2012, Brooks won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama for his performance in the soap opera All My Children. Since 2016, he has had a regular role on TNT's The Last Ship.

Brooks has studied martial arts for over 20 years. He is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, and hand-to-hand weapons combat.
