Yevgeni Nikolayevich Lazarev (March 31, 1937November 18, 2016; age 79), known by his professional name Eugene Lazarev, was an actor who played Nikola Luminović in Season 1 of 24. He was a very famous film and theatre actor in Russia.

Biography and career Edit

Eugene Lazarev was born as Yevgeni Nikolayevich Lazarev in the city of Minsk, in the former Soviet Union (now Belarus). He graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School-Studio. Lazarev was later a professor there. He also played in the Riga Russian Drama Theatre and Mayakovsky Theatre.

Since the 50's, Lazarev had a prolific career as an actor in his native country. He was awarded the title of National Artist of Russia. However, in the 1990's he decided to move to the United States to act in Hollywood. He has appeared in films like The Saint (with Rade Šerbedžija and Tommy Flanagan), The Sum of All Fears (with James Cromwell, Colm Feore and Joel Bissonnette), Lord of War, and Iron Man (with Kate Mara).

Lazarev has also appeared in TV shows like The West Wing (with Devika Parikh), The Beast (with Hrach Titizian and Michael Reilly Burke), Alias, The Agency (with Gil Bellows and Will Patton), ER (with Paul McCrane), Carnivale (with Patrick Bauchau), and The Unit (with Dennis Haysbert, Max Martini, Michael Irby, and Navid Negahban).

Aside of his career as an actor, Lazarev continued working as a professor. He taught at the Stanislavsky Summer School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as well as the School of Cinematic Arts in USC, the USC School of Cinema and Television.

Lazarev died of cardiac arrest on November 18, 2016. He was buried in Moscow.[1]

Lazarev appeared as Nikola Luminović during Season 1. Luminović was a friend of Victor Drazen who helped him after his escape, but ended up regretting it. Lazarev appeared in only one episode, and was credited as a guest star.
