Faran Haroon Tahir (born February 16, 1963; age 57) portrayed Tomas Sherek during Season 4, and also a mosque greeter during Season 2 of 24.

Biography and career Edit

Faran Tahir was born in Los Angeles, California, while his parents were studying acting and directing at UCLA Theatre Department. He grew up in Pakistan where his parents were well-known actors, directors, and writers, but moved back to Los Angeles in 1980, when he was 17 years old. Tahir received his Bachelor's degree in Theatre from the University of California, Berkeley, and a graduate degree from the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University.

Tahir began his professional acting career in 1989, with a minor role in the show Midnight Caller (with Mykelti Williamson). After that, he has appeared in TV shows like Law & Order, Alias (with Gina Torres), NYPD Blue (with Esai Morales and Kal Penn), The West Wing (with Lucinda Jenney), Lost (with Alan Dale and Daniel Dae Kim), and Dallas (with Glenn Morshower and Annie Wersching).

Aside from TV, Tahir has appeared in films like The Jungle Book, Picture Perfect (with Ivar Brogger), Charlie Wilson's War, Iron Man (with Bill Smitrovich and Tim Guinee), Star Trek (with Zachary Quinto), Escape Plan, and Elysium (with Carly Pope, Christina Cox, and Michael Shanks).
