Fiber optic cameras were surveillance devices utilized by CTU and FBI during several operations.

Day 1[]

CTU Los Angeles used fiber optic cameras for surveillance when a member of Senator Palmer's advance team, Elizabeth Nash, agreed to plant a tracking device on Alexis Drazen. CTU agents rigged Room 1242 of the Senator's hotel with fiber optics and set up viewing monitors in the room across the hall. ("Day 1: 4:00pm-5:00pm")

The FBI used a fiber optic camera to watch the interior of Hamid Al-Zarian's apartment, who was being held hostage by one of Tony Almeida's operatives. Agent Reed handled the optics camera. ("Day 7: 4:00am-5:00am")

Background information and notes[]

  • Fiber optics are long, hollow, thin, transparent fibers made of glass that are used to transmit light over a distance. The glass fibers, which are approximately the diameter of human hairs, are coated in two layers of plastic, which create a perfect mirror inside the fiber.
