The Finsbury Park Mosque was a mosque located in Finsbury Park, London, England. The mosque was considered to be one of the main recruitment centers for Islamic terrorists in the western world.

Tony Almeida mentioned the mosque during his interrogation of Reza Naiyeer, arguing that Naiyeer fit the profile for a supporter of radical Islamist terrorists. ("Day 2: 1:00pm-2:00pm")

Background information and notes[]

  • The Finsbury Park Mosque was a real mosque in London which, under the imam Abu Hamza al-Masri, became reputed as a center for Islamic radicalism. In 2003, less than a year after the airing of "Day 2: 1:00pm-2:00pm," the building was raided in connection with the Wood Green ricin plot and Hamza was jailed. The Finsbury Park Mosque was re-opened in 2005 under the leadership of chairman Mohammed Kozbar. Sicne then, it is widely acknowledged that the mosque has not been associated with radical views.
  • The mention of the mosque was cut from the United Kingdom airing and DVD release of Season 2.
