Editing Forum:Fun with terminology

Right now the [[:Category:Terminology|terminology category]] is a bit of a mess, being something of a catch-all category for different events, jargon, organizations, and technology.  I think we need to clearly establish what constitutes as "terminology."  The category description itself says:

{{cquote|'''''Terminology''' articles explain the specialized jargon used on ''[[24]]''.''}}

With that taken into account, I think pages included in that category should be limited to the following:

* Terms used frequently throughout the show (e.g. [[Hostage]], [[Mole]], [[Suicide]])
* Recurring ''24'' technobabble (e.g. [[Encryption]], [[Socket]])
* Made-up CTU protocol (e.g. [[Code 6]], [[Section 1.12]])
* Recurring events ([[Presidential debates]], [[Super Tuesday]], etc.)
* Non-specific pieces of technology (e.g. [[Audio recording]], [[Gun]], [[Microtransmitter]])

Everything else, like [[Friends of Palmer]] or the [[SA list]], can't be really classified as "jargon," and should be filed in the appropriate [[:Category:Events|events]], [[:Category:objects|objects]], [[:Category:Organizations|organizations]], or [[:Category:Technology|technology]] categories. :I've been having a bit of a clean out of that category, so apologies if some of this is no longer relevant!
:However I definitely think we need to sort it out and work out some rules for the category. I like what you've stated above; it makes sense to me and captures what I think the category should be. I might suggest possibly having a sub-category for the CTU protocol jargon, to group it together within terminology, possibly a "CTU terminology" thing or "CTU protocols"?
:Perhaps for some of the other articles in terminology, we could have some new categories. Time zones seems to be a common theme; possibly currency, and something for all the databases/lists/files? Like a "databases" categ for [[HK list]], [[SA list]], [[WET list]], [[NCIC]], [[Corrections Offender Network]], [[File 33]]? ::I've done some of these changes - however, I'm still stumped on [[Friends of Palmer]]. Okay on second thought, Terminology ''is'' the best place for that page ATM, since, like you said, it's more of a slang term than the name of any formal organization or group.  Though I'm unsure of whether or not it should be included in [[:Category:David Palmer campaign supporters|David Palmer campaign supporters]].  Wouldn't that imply that the term is representative of an actual group of people, rather than just a nickname that's indiscriminately thrown around?  {{User:Nitromancer/Sig}} 20:06, December 19, 2015 (UTC)
