Forum: The Situation Room > Nailing down the date

Since the overwhelming evidence points towards Day 1 taking place during 2002, I'm putting forward the motion that Wiki 24 accepts this as canon. In the past, we've embraced all the evidence for dating the series, however, it's gotten to the point where it seems foolish not to assume that 2002 is the correct starting year for 24. I'm proposing that we accept incorporate this fact into the main bodies of our articles and chalk up the contradictory evidence as errors and relegate them to footnotes. Does anyone oppose this motion? --Proudhug 20:34, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

It sounds like a fantastic idea to me, and a real step forward for the wiki. I have one thing to note: we need to make it clear why the date is what it is (i.e. 2002 = Day 1, 2011 = Day 6 etc.) by either a very brief summary or a link to a page with more information, so first time users will understand why we have it like that. But I think its a good idea to do this and would be willing to help implement it. SignorSimon 22:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, that's why we have the timeline page. We can leave the key points supporting 2002 in the Background section of that page, if you feel it necessary, though I don't. --Proudhug 22:07, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I just think we need to justify why we are saying that it is all based around Day 1 being in 2002. SignorSimon 22:19, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Why? We don't cite any other information on Wiki 24. As long as the information verifiably comes from a legitimate IU 24 source, we can include it on the site without explaining where it specifically came up. Like I said, a note on the timeline page should satisfy the need you brought up. --Proudhug 22:23, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, that sounds good. Let's get started on it. SignorSimon 15:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
