Hi everyone!

While I was here, I wanted to make you guys aware of a really cool trick that just started spreading around wikia.

If you click on an image now, you go to the image's page, which was one of the things that used to really bug me. But if you make the image's page a redirect, meaning putting:

#REDIRECT[[PAGENAME]]

at the beginning of the page, when people click on the image on other pages, they'll be REDIRECTED to the page you put in 'PAGENAME'.

It's pretty sweet for linking images to who is in them.

I love it, and I figure other wikians would like to know about it as well.

Sounds neat but how do you access the image itself if you've redirected it? I mess with image files often to categorize them and tag them with Fairuse. – Blue Rook 23:18, 16 July 2008 (UTC)_talkcontribs

Well, when you're redirected to the page that the image points at, there'll still be a link up at the top that you click to edit the image's page. And you can still leave everything else in the image's page if you like, it'll still categorize the image correctly. Check out the front page for examples.

It is a cool trick, but the problem with doing that on things such as, for example, the Wiki24 logo, means that you will be redirected back to the main page when the images appears on a "Quotes" box or something. That's not really what we want to happen. SignorSimon 07:15, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Yea, sorry about that. What seems natural to one person seems strange to another. I'll let you guys decide if you'd like your images to redirect, and where to. :)
