Francesco Daniele Quinn (March 22, 1963August 5, 2011; age 48) played Syed Ali during Season 2 of 24. Although he played a Middle-Easterner, Francesco is actually Italian. His father is Oscar winning actor Anthony Quinn.

Biography and career[]

Francesco Quinn was born in Italy to actor Anthony Quinn and costume designer Iolanda Addolori.

Quinn debuted on television in 1985 on the show Quo Vadis?. He has since appeared on shows like Miami Vice (with Esai Morales), and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. In 1997, he started a recurring role on JAG (with Scott Paulin) that lasted until 2002. By that time, he also had a recurring role on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. After his appearance on 24 on 2003, he guest-starred on NCIS (twice; with Pauley Perrette), Crossing Jordan (with Ravi Kapoor), The Handler (with Currie Graham), CSI: Miami (with Tim Kelleher), ER (with Sara Gilbert), and The Shield (with FJ Rio).

Quinn made his feature film debut in 1986 on the critically acclaimed film Platoon (with Kevin Dillon and Tony Todd). He continued to work in films like Love Dream (with Joaquim de Almeida), Deadly Ransom (with J.J. Perry), Vlad, Hell Ride (with Eric Balfour and Dennis Hopper), and A Gunfighter's Pledge (with C. Thomas Howell, Nicholas Guest, and Jorge Pallo). He frequently co-starred in movies with the likes of Michael Madsen, Brad Dourif and his late father Anthony.

Quinn died on August 5, 2011 at the age of 48 near his home in Malibu. It is believed that he suffered a heart attack while jogging with his son.
