Geoff Pierson played Senator and later President John Keeler during Season 3 and Season 4 of 24.
His character was originally intended to die in the attack on Air Force One, though FOX executives apparently balked at the idea of killing off the President, so he was kept alive but critically injured.
Before appearing on 24, Pierson had regular roles in the FOX sitcoms Unhappily Ever After and That 80's Show, and played Grace's ex-husband Jimmy on the series Grace Under Fire (working with Penny Johnson Jerald in one episode). Pierson also played a U.S. senator (albiet a Democratic one) on The West Wing and portrayed the Vice President of the United States in the movie Get Smart.
Since 24, Pierson has appeared on The Mentalist (appearing with his 24 Vice President Gregory Itzin), and Dexter as Captain Tom Matthews.
