The Cyprus recording was potential evidence that terrorist Syed Ali conspired with leaders of three Middle Eastern countries. Once this recording found its way to CTU, director Tony Almeida had the information verified with the latest technology by Agent Gibson. Gibson found no reason to believe that the Cyprus audio was not authentic. He was unable to detect the forgery, which had been created by Alex Hewitt for Peter Kingsley using prototype technology.
