Giles Matthey on what a grand experience it was working on 24

Giles Ingram Matthey (born November 11, 1987; age 37) is an English actor who played CIA agent Jordan Reed in 24: Live Another Day.

Biography[]

Giles Matthey was born in Australia to a British father and an Australian mother. He moved to London at the age of eight. He became interested in acting during his teenage years after seeing a play that "resonated with something in me". Eventually, he decided to move to New York City where he completed a two-year conservatory program at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute.

Matthey's first acting job was an appearance in The Good Wife (with Chris Butler) in 2011. Since 2012, he is best known for his recurring role as Claude Crane in the HBO series True Blood, appearing opposite Kevin Alejandro, John Billingsley, Matt Bushell, Jenni Blong, Dale Dickey, Henri Lubatti, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, John Prosky, Steve Rankin, and Tanya Wright.

Matthey also had a supporting role as Apple design chief Jonathan Ive in Jobs (2013, with Lukas Haas, Clint Jung, and Robert Pine), and a lead role on the 2014 independent film Boulevard, starring Robin Williams. Matthey was briefly featured in the last episodes of Season 12 of NCIS (with Pauley Perrette), where he played a terrorist mastermind. He reprised the role in the premiere of Season 13.

Role on 24[]

After finding out about 24: Live Another Day, Matthey auditioned for the role of Jordan Reed. According to him, the script described Reed as a "sophisticated, sharp computer tech". He researched the role with the help of a relative who happens to have a similar government job in order to figure out "what kind of guy Jordan Reed may be". On a Wiki 24 interview, Matthey describes Reed as "a good guy with a true moral compass". He also described the whole 24 experience as "nothing but a pleasure and honour".
