Hamid Al-Zarian was a citizen of Washington, D.C. during the events of Day 7. He was the younger brother of Jibraan Al-Zarian.

Before Day 7[]

Both of Hamid's parents were killed in a US airstrike near the Pakistani border. He was raised by his older brother Jibraan. They lived at 2700 Eastbrook.

Day 7[]

Hamid woke up at around 3:50am and found his brother, Jibraan, awake as well. Jibraan was preparing him breakfast and told him to come home as soon as he got out of work. Jibraan feared that, after all the attacks of the day, the population might take their anger against Muslims. Hamid, however, calmed him telling him that most of his co-workers think he's Puerto Rican anyway.

When Cara Bowden and Tony Almeida arrived at the apartment complex with two other subordinates and cut off their electricity, Jibraan went to check the fuse box. In the darkness, the two brothers were ambushed by the group. As Tony Almeida grabbed Jibraan, he threatened to kill Hamid if he didn't do what he was told.

Hamid was tied to his bed, but awoke once one of the men working with Tony woke him up. He was told by Jibraan that he was a terrorist, and that he was working with Tony to attack the country. Hamid, who was unaware that Jibraan was being forced to say this to save his life, spat back at his brother. Tony took Jibraan away, leaving a guard, Harbinson, with Hamid.

Around 4:57 a.m. Hamid was rescued by the FBI, but stabbed Harbinson in the neck with a glass shard from a mirror. He prepared to finish off the fallen mercenary, but Jack Bauer informed him that his brother was innocent and convinced him to hold back. Hamid was quickly restrained. Jack told Muhtadi Gohar to speak with Hamid for comfort.

After Jibraan was rescued, Hamid and Muhtadi met with him and they hugged each other.

Background information and notes[]

  • The casting call for Hamid (then known as Kamil Maanvi) describes the character as a "17 year old (we would like 18 to play 17) Middle Eastern brother. Kamil has been raised in the US his whole life, so is a typical American teenager. However, he is being used as a pawn to manipulate his brother Yusef."
