Biography and career[]
Hector Luis Bustamante was born in Medellín, Colombia. His family moved to the United States when he was 12 years old. Although interested in acting from an early age, he was discouraged from it by people who told him his accent would never allow him to be a professional actor. Later, Bustamante was an alumnus of the 1989 Governor's School of New Jersey as an art scholar, and then Parsons School of Design in New York. After that, he worked as a graphic designer.
In 1999, Bustamante made the decision to enroll in acting classes at the Shelton's Actors' Studio In San Francisco. His first professional role came the next year when he appeared on an episode of Nash Bridges (with Tamlyn Tomita). The next year, he returned to the show on a different role.
After that, Bustamante has appeared in shows like NYPD Blue (with Esai Morales), The Agency (with Carmen Argenziano, Gregg Henry, and Will Patton), Line of Fire (with Leslie Hope, Michael Irby, Jesse Escochea, Brian Goodman, and Maurice Compte), Standoff (with Gina Torres, Michael Cudlitz, and John Lacy), Crossing Jordan (with Ravi Kapoor, Susan Gibney, and Alan Dale), The Shield (with Benito Martinez and F.J. Rio), Castle (with Stana Katic and Penny Johnson Jerald), and Hawaii Five-0 (with Daniel Dae Kim and Raphael Sbarge).
Bustamante has also appeared in films like Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, 40 Days and Nights (with Alex Carter), Right at Your Door (with Rory Cochrane), Book of Rules, Jada, and Hostage (with Glenn Morshower).
