Inauguration

Allison Taylor is sworn in as President

Inauguration Day is the event where a newly elected President of the United States of America is sworn into office. Inauguration Day is on January 20 in both real American politics and 24. Inauguration Day is seen in 24: Redemption, but allusions to it are found in multiple seasons.

Day 1[]

Sherry Palmer states "nine months" until Inauguration Day (January 20). Since Day 1 is set on Super Tuesday in March, this would be around nine to ten months until Inauguration Day, fitting with her claims.

Day 3[]

The Presidential Debate during the course of the day suggests that Day 3 is set in either September or October, which is when Presidential Debates occur in real life (in preparation for the November 5 Presidential Election). This indicates that Inauguration Day is on January 20.

Day 6[]

Wayne Palmer mentions that he was inaugurated three months before Day 6. Three months after January 20 would place the day somewhere in late April or early May. In Howard Gordon's timeline, this also fits with the real American election cycle, meaning that Wayne Palmer would have been elected president on November 5, 2012. The weather of the day seems to agree with a May setting.

Redemption[]

24: Redemption took place on Inauguration Day, where Allison Taylor was sworn in at the United States Capitol by Chief Justice Edwin Ross. Based on the winter coats everyone was wearing, it is apparent that January 20 is indeed Inauguration Day in 24.

Day 7[]

On Day 7, a news broadcast in 8:00am to 9:00am indicates that 65 days have passed since the events of Redemption. This would be March 26. The weather in the day is quite green, which fits with the late March setting.
