Biography and career[]
J. Scott Shonka was born in Cheverly, Maryland but grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. Before being an actor, he served in the military for more than 10 years. Shonka graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree in General Engineering. He became a qualified Airborne and Ranger, and served in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.
After his time in the military, Shonka moved to Los Angeles in 1994. He has been working as a professional actor since 1996, and has trained with Milton Katselas, Jeffrey Tambor, and others at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
