James Hiroyuki Liao (born December 30, 1985; age 38) played Devon Rosenthal during Season 8 of 24.
Biography and career[]
Liao was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, in New York. His father is Taiwanese and his mother is Japanese. Liao graduated from Juilliard School's Drama Division in 2004 and then studied at the Marjorie Ballentine Studio.
Liao began his professional acting career in 2004, when he appeared both in Law & Order (with Spencer Garrett) and CSI: Miami (with Rory Cochrane and Vanessa Ferlito). After that, he appeared in other versions of both, playing an Assistant District Attorney in Law & Order: Trial by Jury (with Warren Kole), and Eric Hong on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
In 2008, Liao had a recurring role in the fourth season of Prison Break. That same year, he also appeared on The Shield. From 2013 to 2016, he played the role of Jay Lee in Unforgettable. In 2017, he appeared both on Preacher (with Graham McTavish) and SEAL Team.
Aside of TV shows, Liao has also appeared on films like Management, Battle Los Angeles (with Adetokumboh M'Cormack), and Star Trek Into Darkness (with Zachary Quinto, Peter Weller, and Nazneen Contractor). In 2012, he lent his voice to the character of Toshiaki on the animated film Frankenweenie.
