James Swallow (born May 6, 1970; age 54) is a British author, journalist, and scriptwriter who wrote 24: Deadline.

A multiple New York Times-bestseller, Swallow has written numerous licensed novels and original works, including books in the Star Trek, Stargate, and Warhammer 40,000 series, among others. He also scripted installments of the Doctor Who audio drama, and contributed the story, uncredited, for two episodes of Star Trek: Voyager, making him the only British writer to work on the Star Trek franchise.

In video games, Swallow collaborated with Mary DeMarle and Jean-François Dugas to write the acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2011), receiving a BAFTA Award nomination and a 2012 Canadian Videogames Award for Best Writing. He also wrote the 2013 follow-up Deus Ex: The Fall and the 2016 sequel Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
