Jason was an employee of CTU Los Angeles in the IT department active during Day 2.

Day 2[]

In the early hours of the morning of Day 2, Jason was doing MI on the orders of Ryan Chappelle when his superior, Berman ordered him and another IT worker to attempt to retrieve an audio file from a computer chip recovered by Jack Bauer that could potentially prove the Cyprus recording to be a forgery, thus preventing an imminent war between the United States and three Middle Eastern countries.

About fifteen minutes later, Jason reported to Michelle Dessler by phone that he was unable to configure the audio file. When Dessler asked him if he had run the chip through the default mode, he replied that he had and that the audio files were gone. He said that all he had found were some repeating markers.

Upon learning that IT was unable to recover the audio file, Chappelle determined that the time spent on trying to recover the file had been wasted and urged all CTU employees to resume work on the war effort. Chappelle then called President David Palmer to report that CTU had not found any evidence that the Cyprus recording was fake, which news swayed the cabinet to an 8-7 vote in favor of invoking the 25th Amendment and removing Palmer from office so that the new president would be free to order military planes to resume their journey to the three Middle Eastern countries implicated in the Cyprus audio and to prepare to attack them.

CTU later used those repeating markers Jason and Michelle had found on the chip to identify and locate the programmer of the Cyprus audio.
