Jerry Alder was an LAPD detective, Tactical Squad member, and the partner of Detective Frank Castalano.

Castalano and Alder alerted Jack Bauer and CTU of the suspicious murder of Hugh Vetri. Alder was seriously wounded when a group of terrorists attacked the convoy that he was traveling in, and was rushed to the hospital. At 5:20pm Frank called Jack and told him Jerry was still in surgery.
