John Beard (born 1948) was a Los Angeles FOX News anchor who co-starred in two episodes of 24 as a news reader in Season 4 and Season 5.
Biography and career
Beard was born in St. Pauls, North Carolina. It was there that he began his broadcasting career, working on air through his first two years of college. Beard then served as a Navy Corpsman with the Marines for four years. Upon his return, he started anchoring WITN-TV while finishing his studies. Beard graduated from East Carolina University.
At WITN-TV, Beard worked as a weekend anchor and full-time reporter. Then he was promoted to anchor of the 11 o'clock newscast. After graduating, Beard started working at WXII-TV in Winstom Salem, North Carolina, and then at WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York. From 1981 to 1993, he was anchor at KNBC-TV. After that, he was co-anchor of the 10 PM newscast at KTTV in Los Angeles, along with Christine Devine. Later, he served as anchor for Channel 2 News Daybreak and Midday on WGRZ.
Beard has acted as a news reader in multiple productions, including the animated Spider-Man series (with Nick Jameson), The Bernie Mac Show and Arrested Development.
