John Nielsen (born October 17, 1958; age 62) played a reporter during Season 3 of 24.

Biography and career[edit | edit source]

John Nielsen was born in Brooklyn, New York into a family of cops and firemen. He studied aeronautical engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. After working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as a shipfitter, he returned to school attending Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx where he became interested in acting.

Nielsen spent several years performing in local theater plays in Seattle. In 1989, he moved to Los Angeles where he began his professional acting career. He has appeared in shows like Knots Landing (with William Devane), NYPD Blue (with Esai Morales), The Division (with Jonathan Del Arco), Rizzoli & Isles (with Brian Goodman and Rick Ravanello), and The Blacklist (with Diego Klattenhoff and Harry Lennix). He was also a regular on the show The Secret World of Alex Mack from 1994 to 1998.

Nielsen has also appeared on films like Live Wire (with Tony Plana), Ground Control (with Kiefer Sutherland), Flags of Our Fathers (with V.J. Foster), and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (with Glenn Morshower).
