John Paul II was the Pope of the Catholic Church during Trinity. He had a personal bodyguard named Giancarlo Mettler who went everywhere with him.

Before Trinity[]

John Paul II grew up in Krakow, Poland.

In the 1960s, John Paul II was involved in Vatican II, officially the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, which significantly revised the views and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Though the majority of Catholics were fine with these changes, a small segment, dubbed "schismatics," were strongly against them. Incuded among this group were St. Monica's Cathedral Cardinal Mulrooney and Mark Gelson's father.

Following the death of his predecessor, John Paul II assumed the title of Pope of the Catholic Church. As the Vicar of Rome, he followed many of the previous traditions. Each year on Holy Thursday, he washed the feet of the poor, a reminder that Jesus Christ himself once practiced such humility, though John Paul II himself felt that it was too showish.

One of Pope John Paul II's favorite quotes was a Zen saying: “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”

However, as the Pope got older, he found his frailty made his duties become more difficult, but his ambition remained. Predicting a war between the Eastern and Western worlds, he designed the Unity Conference as a method of prevention. He chose to begin in Los Angeles.

Trinity[]

The Pope was in Los Angeles for the conference. He was staying at the Cathedral presided over by Cardinal Mulrooney. Late in the night, Mulrooney informed him that Frank had been killed because of "the issue", referring to his abuse of children. They decided that they had to act, and Mulrooney employed Michael Shalhoub to deal with the situation.
