This article is about the county specifically. For the city and the general L.A. area, see Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County (abbreviated L.A. County) was a large county located on the west coast of southern California, home to the major city of Los Angeles and several outlying cities and towns. Los Angeles County bordered the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, Orange County to the southeast, and Ventura County to the west.

During Day 6, Abu Fayed's terrorist organization set off a suitcase nuclear device in Valencia, northwest of the county. The prevailing winds were expected to blow fallout from the explosion away from Los Angeles County. Even years later, a section of the county was walled off due to lingering radiation at the blast zone. ("Day 6: 9:00am-10:00am", Day 6 Debrief, Deadline)
