Mamud Rasheed Faheen

Mamud Rasheed Faheen was a Second Wave terrorist who planned the nuclear threat of Day 2.

Before Day 2

Faheen was associated with several terrorist groups, including Second Wave. He was responsible for a suicide bombing in the West Bank prior to Day 2, during which 13 people died and 26 were injured, and Faheen faked his own death during the attack. With the Western world thinking he was dead, he was able to operate in secrecy.

Along with Syed Ali, he began two years of planning for a nuclear attack on the United States that would take place on Day 2. Several weeks before Day 1, Faheen enlisted Nina Myers through an intermediary. Myers would both provide schematics of the CTU Los Angeles building to Joseph Wald, and have his group blow up the building on Day 2 in order to foil CTU's attempts to detect and stop the nuclear plot.

Faheen and Jason Park in Lyons, France

Five days before Day 2, Faheen was in Lyons meeting with Jason Park, who was under surveillance by the NSA. The pair were photographed and after they had separated Park was kidnapped. Faheen travelled back to the United States, waiting in Visalia while the nuclear attack was carried. Meanwhile, Park was tortured until he confessed Faheen's planning of the nuclear attack.

Day 2

After Joseph Wald gave up Nina Myers and killed himself, CTU and FBI agents forced Nina to assist in the capture of Faheen, her own contact. Nina explained to him that she had escaped prison with the help of Wachoski, and that she needed his help to leave the country. He embraced Nina but she knocked him out; the other terrorists in his store (including the store clerk) were shot during the subsequent raid. ("2:00pm-3:00pm")

Afterward, Nina tried to press him for information on a government plane. Nina told him that U.S. Special Forces had kidnapped his family, and that she was the only one who could save them. When he broke and told her everything he knew, she slit his throat with a shattered gift card she had picked up earlier, so that she would be the sole source of the information, and therefore not expendable. She did this to keep from being killed by Jack Bauer. ("3:00pm-4:00pm")
