This article's subject relates to Season 1 of 24.

Maria Canosa was the principal of Grant Street Elementary School during Day 1. When presidential candidate David Palmer and his wife Sherry visited the school for a photo-op on primary day, she greeted them and showed them around the school. Just before 10am, Palmer talked to a class of students while his wife read them a story. ("9:00am-10:00am")

Later she tried to give Palmer some suggestions on his education program, but he had to excuse himself to take a call from Carl Webb. She then let David and Sherry taste the school dinners, and was touched when she found out they attended school together. Later she spoke to David again, about the problem of teachers becoming surrogate parents, and he passed her onto Mike Novick, who had been working on the issue. He told her he was in charge of preparing their position paper on education. The Palmers left just after 11am. ("10:00am-11:00am")
