May Charters (born June 9) is an actress who played the Bank teller in episode 1 of The Rookie. She is the daughter of longtime 24 DP Rodney Charters. Aside of acting, Charters is also a film writer, producer and director.
Biography and career Edit
May Charters was born in Toronto Canada. Her parents are cinematographer Rodney Charters and Gillian Adamson. Charters developed an interest in acting from an early age. She had her first acting role at the age of 9, playing an orphan in the Canadian TV film Heaven on Earth. At 16, Charters started acting professionally at the Leah Posluns Theater.
Charters studied in London at LAMDA. She also studied directing at the NYFA and art school at The Paris American Academy for painting. Charters also started dancing flamenco professionally with the Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company and Ritmo Flamenco. Early in her career, she had brief roles in the TV show M.A.N.T.I.S. and the TV film The Pretender 2001 (with Patrick Bauchau and Jon Gries).
In 2001, Charters wrote, produced, and directed the film Lovers in a Dangerous Time. The film received critical acclaim, being nominated to multiple indie awards. It featured Charters' mother, Gillian, in a lead role and was co-produced by her father. After that, Charters has continued to write and direct feature and short films.
