Biography and career Edit

Charlene "Michael" Hyatt was born in Birmingham, England to Jamaican parents. Her father was an actor, broadcaster, and comedian, and her mother was an art historian and museologist. Hyatt spent her elementary school years abroad. Due to her parents work, Hyatt was exposed to art and theater from an early age.

At the age of 10, Hyatt moved to the US with her mother and siblings. The family lived in Maryland and then in Washington, DC. Hyatt studied at Howard University and then continued at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she completed her Master's degree.

Hyatt started her professional acting career in theater, before moving to film and television. Among her acting roles was a part in the television series Drive, which featured fellow 24 actors Riley Smith, Dariush Kashani, and Kevin Alejandro. She is also known for playing the role of Brianna Barksdale in the critically acclaimed series The Wire.
